Must-Know: Dawn Kills Them

Like Skeletron, The Twins must be defeated before dawn (4:30 AM). If daytime arrives, they will both enrage and instantly kill you. Start the fight as soon as night falls to have enough time —10 minutes is usually plenty with decent gear.

Preparation

Kill Spazmatism First. Always.

There is no debate about which eye to kill first. Spazmatism (the green one) is the dangerous one. In second phase, he charges at you rapidly and shoots Cursed Flames that deal heavy damage and inflict the Cursed Inferno debuff. Retinazer just fires a laser —it's easy to dodge. Kill Spazmatism first, then leisurely finish Retinazer.

Strategy

Phase 1 —Both Eyes

Both eyes start in their first phase. Spazmatism floats around and sometimes charges. Retinazer stays at a distance and fires lasers. Focus all your damage on Spazmatism:

Phase 2 —Spazmatism Transforms

When Spazmatism hits 8,000 HP, he transforms: his pupil becomes a dragon head, his defense jumps to 25, and he starts charging rapidly while shooting Cursed Flames. This is the most dangerous point of the fight:

Phase 3 —Retinazer Transforms

Once Spazmatism is dead, Retinazer transforms at 8,000 HP. His pupil becomes a red laser cannon, defense increases to 20, and he fires a continuous death laser:

Expert Mode Changes

In Expert Mode, both eyes gain more HP and deal more damage. Spazmatism shoots more Cursed Flames per burst, and Retinazer's death laser sweeps faster. The core strategy remains the same: kill Spazmatism first, keep moving, use a long arena. Consider adding heart statues or campfires every 50 blocks instead of 100 for easier healing access.

Rewards —What's Worth Your Time

After defeating The Twins, craft Hallowed Armor with the bars. This will help you take on The Destroyer (the easiest mechanical boss) and Skeletron Prime, then Plantera.
